Bills' Disappointing Performance Gives Patriots Route to Top Spot - Best of NFL Week 10

Week 10 again delivered, with a major surprise for the Buffalo Bills demonstrating the 'any given Sunday' saying that attracts so many fans into the National Football League
That result could have created things up for the Patriots to creep back into a leading position they formerly held, with a schedule that gives them an edge over their eight and two rivals
Over in the NFC the Seahawks and Los Angeles Rams had perfect results to arrange a major confrontation next week, while our player of the week is chasing records as well as the Most Valuable Player award
Analysis - Just a Bad Day for Buffalo?
Was it just an emotional comedown from defeating Kansas City last week or something more? That's the question for the Buffalo team to address
The Bills had secured seven victories in a row against the Dolphins but were second best from the beginning as the Dolphins ran out 30-13 victors in an surprising outcome - and performance
MVP quarterback Josh Allen only got the squad's initial first down in the third quarter and first points in the fourth - admittedly Miami had 10 days to prepare but it was nonetheless a massive egg produced by one of the NFL's top offences
Tua Tagovailoa threw two scores but rusher Achane was the game-changing factor, with 225 total yards and two scores
Containing the league's best running game was also key, with James Cook and company registering just eighty-six yards, their lowest of the year and slightly more than half their 161.5 yard season average
Additionally there were the three critical ball losses, and the two from Josh Allen specifically. An interception in the end zone resulting in a nine-minute possession yielded no points, and his final quarter dropped ball that Miami converted to a touchdown just two plays
It was classic 'old Buffalo' as they shot themselves in the foot, falling into a deficit on defensive side and Allen trying to do too much to rescue his squad out of it - rather than the calm, controlled, well-balanced Bills we've witnessed this year
Miami have served up a varied performances this year so the verdict is uncertain on whether this is the start of something, but for Buffalo they'll need an instant response in a difficult matchup against the Buccaneers next week as the New England are quietly moving into a comfortable advantage at the top of the American Football Conference East
In Focus - New England See Path to Surprise Top Seed
Regarding the New England, they're one of three eight and two squads in the league, all American Football Conference sides, but could they be the top team?
One could find flaws in New England, the Broncos and Indianapolis actually for feasting on the weaker opponents, with only five of their combined 24 victories achieved against teams with a positive record - and one of those was the Indianapolis beating the Denver
The Broncos defeated the reigning champion Eagles in Philly and are kings of the fourth-quarter while Indy can rely on Jonathan Taylor, but the New England including Sunday's win in Tampa to their primtime win in Orchard Park appears to be a declaration
Their pair of losses occurred in recently appointed coach Vrabel's first three contests, with seven straight victories, similar to Denver, since then - but defeating Baker Mayfield after the Bucs had a week off to prepare was significant
Drake Maye's MVP claims won't go away, and he definitely deserves credit for bravery after absorbing some hard tackles in Tampa Bay but persevering to guide his side to success
The defense is solid and rookie running back Henderson exploded on game day with 147 rushing yards and two exhilerating scores of 55 and 69 yards - establishing himself as just the fifth different ball carrier to break 22 miles per hour this year on his initial touchdown
Although you can argue who 'the best' is statistically, the Patriots should be favourites to finish with the best record due to their schedule - which includes just a single matchup against a winning team, albeit a significant contest against Buffalo
Visiting Baltimore is also tough, but the Broncos have it more difficult in the AFC West division with the Chiefs to play twice, the Los Angeles Chargers (who might also challenge for first place but face the same problem) and also the Green Bay on the fixture list
The Indianapolis also face the Kansas City, and have the Seahawks, 49ers and two games with the 5-4 Jacksonville to face. There's a long way to go but the opportunity is open for a shock top seed in the AFC
Next Week - Rams & Seahawks Set for Next Week Showdown
Both squads with strong arguments to be better than all of the three 8-2 teams are National Football Conference West rivals the Seahawks and Los Angeles, who each scored forty points to go to seven and two ahead of next week's Hollywood blockbuster meeting between the two in LA
They've both secured four victories in a row, have quarterbacks in Stafford and Sam Darnold performing at an high standard (although Sam Darnold had turnover issues on game day) with excellent pass catchers, and defenses giving up fewer than twenty points a contest
Both could realistically be undefeated as too - especially the Los Angeles as their two defeats came in extra time against the 49ers and then that agonising loss in Philadelphia when they had a potentially winning field goal with the last kick blocked and returned by the Eagles for a touchdown
The Seahawks were also defeated to San Francisco, with a last-minute score in the opening week, before losing to the final play of the contest against the Buccaneers - so they are genuinely among the best sides in the NFL
The upcoming game on Sunday could be the best of the season so far
Top Performer - Taylor
Jonathan Taylor could be on for a record season after his incredible display in Germany - rushing for 244 rushing yards, registering three touchdowns and contributing an additional forty-two {receiving yards
