Outrage as Renowned South African DJ Gunned Down in the City of Johannesburg.
A prominent South African media personality and entertainer has been shot dead in the nation's economic hub Johannesburg, triggering widespread grief across a country struggling with entrenched crime.
Warrick Stock, widely recognized as DJ Warras, was shot and killed in the central business district on the afternoon of Tuesday.
Police said the 40-year-old media personality was accosted by a trio of assailants, with one began shooting at him before escaping on foot.
The reason behind the incident has not been established and no arrests have taken place, as per the official statement.
Details of the Attack
Law enforcement said that Stock was ambushed as he was leaving a location in the vicinity of the Carlton Centre.
He had spent several hours at the site overseeing the installation of security systems, which had been reportedly taken over by squatters, according to reports.
"It is alleged the victim was approached by three unidentified men after parking his vehicle, and they began shooting at him before fleeing the scene on foot," authorities stated.
Surveillance tape reportedly depicted a suspect with dreadlocks and dressed in what resembled a protective services outfit shooting on Stock before fleeing.
The DJ tried to run away after he was shot but collapsed on the opposite side of the road.
Officials noted that Stock had an unused firearm and no items were stolen during the attack.
Key evidence, like bullet casings, were found at the crime scene.

Authorities have requested eyewitnesses who may have have information to assist with the investigation.
"Evidence suggests they traveled on foot after the shooting, and officers have been attempting to locate them to determine their whereabouts," stated a police chief.

"I am in shock. I am shattered," were her words.
